DONE DEAL! Arsenal star heading for Serie A transfer switch

While he has always been a popular player among the Arsenal fans, Lukas Podolski has had a much hareder time convincing Arsene Wenger that he deserves to play regularly. And that is despite the fact that the Gunners have not really made full use of our possession and creativity and the Germany international is by far the best finisher in the squad.

The striker’s frustration has been building all season and after he scored right at the beginning and then again at the end of our 4-1 pasting of Galatasaray in Turkey, only to drop to the bench again for the next game, it seemed like the last straw.

The Arsenal boss laughed off reports of a move to Italy with Inter Milan the other day, but that was only because of the terms offered by Roberto Mancini. And those terms must have improved because Podolski himself has now confirmed that he will be joining the Serie A club, apparently on loan with a view to making it a permanent transfer at the end of the season, as revealed by a Daily Express report.

The German forward said, “”I am very happy [to be joining Inter].

“I expect so much from this adventure. I know the Italian league very well. We are aiming to qualify for the Champions League and to win in the Europa League.

“I have spoken with Mancini, I think he is a great coach.”

So it looks like Podolkski will not be adding to the 31 goals he scored for the Gunners, as it seems unlikely that he will be coming back to Arsenal. It is a shame really and I hope he does well in the future.
