The Belgiam wizard Eden Hazard is obviously enjoying putting himself in the frame for a move to a top Premiership team and there have always been very good reasons for him to choose Arsenal over the rest.
After talking up a move to Tottenham earlier this week, he has moved to placate the Arsenal fans by saying that the Emirates is also a logical proposition. He said: “There are several clubs that interest me in England and Arsenal is really a part,”
“Of course, it’s always more fun when the football is beautiful. In addition, at Arsenal, there is a French coach and French players, as well as my compatriot Thomas Vermaelen.”
But the key part of that statement is the bit where he says “clubs that interest me” as opposed to “clubs that are interested in me”!
Arsene Wenger has continually, over many years, admitted his admiration for the Lille midfielder, but he also made it clear in his last statement about Hazard that it is more important for Arsenal to make a profit before investing millions in the transfer market.
Wenger said: “You should know that each season, it is imperative to show a profit of between fifteen and twenty million pounds,”
“I would add that the purpose of a coach is to always buy at a price he sees fit.
“I really like Hazard and for several reasons: it’s his creative power, his ability to mis-align the opponent, his vision of the game and his consummate skill to address the last pass which make him a very interesting player.
“Hazard has what it takes to play for a top-level club, and Arsenal are a top-level club.”
That makes it quite clear to me that Wenger would NEVER invest in a 30million plus player, as the old adage goes “Arsenal don’t buy stars, they make them.” So it is blindingly obvious Hazard will never come to the Emirates unless he appears on a Bosman!
