Look Arsenal fans, I am not saying that the (not official yet) new Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck is as good as Radamel Falcao, or that Arsenal should not be in the market for the best players in the world. But I am being realistic and saying that before Falcao was on the table, the arrival of Welbeck today would have been welcomed a lot more by Gooners.

Once we were linked with the Colombian, however, Arsenal fans were never going to be happy with anything less than him or Cavani, so as soon as we hear about the Man United and England man, there are moans and groans and people saying he is a United reject.

Hold on a minute here, because this reject has scored 20 Premier League goals in his 53 starts, which is not too bad for a player coming in from the left. And that is not, by the way, his best position. He could really thrive in the centre forward role and he must surely be better than Yaya Sanogo and with Champions League experience to boot.

There has been talk of Hernandez, Defoe and other goal poachers, but Arsenal need someone to replace Olivier Giroud and we all know that Giroud’s main strength is….his strength and hold up play. Someone actually said to me that Welbeck could be like the Frenchman with pace, so I for one am staying quite positive on this one.

And the fact that Wenger has apparently been tracking Welbeck for some time says that this is not a Kim Kallstrom ot Park Chu-Young type of panic buy. Give the lad a chance, Arsenal fans FFS.

  1. Good article
I tend to agree with you.
He can attack the back line too and he has pace.
Ozil might enjoy playing with him because he will be making runs for Ozil to find him.
Problem is , Arsenal might stuff this deal up…. Like Remy and Balloteli.

  2. Wish we can get a good DM befor midnite. Wenger please, the team needs a gud DM. Pls!!

  3. Nice one, I’m tired of lots of gunner disrespecting wenger right now. I mean he surely no way more than what we thnk we know just by watching and playing FM. Even though I would love if we have a signing that could push us toward the title but I still believe in wenger. I don’t want Arsenal to be the same as Chelsea and Man. City. Or worse, Man. Utd who says that those both team ruined EPL yet they’re doing the same thing.

  4. Agreed. It’s a transfer that I welcome. He’s young, versatile, and Wenger obviously sees potential in him that he thinks could be actualised at Arsenal.

Falcao’s a good player, but his wages were always going to be too high for Arsenal. Ditto Cavani, I suspect.

If the transfer is completed in time, than welcome to Arsenal, Danny Welbeck, and I hope you flower at this great club.
