Arsene Wenger may not have done a lot of business in the January transfer window but he did identify the teamĀ“s most pressing need and signed a good quality centre back, the Brazilian Gabriel Paulista, in order to provide cover and competition for the centre backs we already have.

His other signing, the 17’year old Polish midfielder Krystian Bielik, is one for the future and that is something that our manager has to keep a close eye on as well as what will help us to do well this season. And the Frenchman has now completed two more very important deals for the future of Arsenal.

As an ESPN report reveals, Wenger has declared himself delighted to have secured the long term future of Francis Coquelin and Chuba Akpom, as the pair have now signed new contracts with the Gunners. There was a chance that we could have lost both of these talented young stars at the end of this season as their contracts were running down and there was plenty of interest in them.

Wenger said, “We are happy with the work we did in the transfer window. The target was on two fronts – the first was to get a central defender in, which we did. The second was to extend contract of Coquelin and Akpom, which we did. We are very happy with what we did.”

The future is looking very bright for the red and white of Arsenal.
