It is starting to look like Arsene Wenger is happy with his striking options at Arsenal, despite having had big problems in that position last season. The Gunners have signed the excellent Chile international Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona, while Nicklas Bendtner has been released. That is a massive upgrade, but is it enough?

Don’t forget that Theo Walcott is going to miss the first month or so, while it may take Sanchez a little while to settle. So we are back to relying on Olivier Giroud up front, with Podolski on the left. Then there is the young Costa Rica striker Joel Campbell and the tall and powerful, but still raw, French forward Yaya Sanogo.

It seems like Wenger thinks this is plenty for Arsenal to challenge for major honours, because there are two bits of Arsenal transfer news in the media today that suggest the Frenchman has stopped looking for strikers. The Daily Mail are reporting that the young Spaniard Alvaro Morata is in Italy to complete his transfer to Juventus, while the Metro reports that Liverpool have stepped in to secure the signature of Loic Remy from QPR.

Is it just me, or are you also worried that, unless we increase the firepower at the Emirates, Arsenal could just fall short again?

  1. I agree. I sure hope Aresne Wenger learned some lessons last season for not buying better striker. What about Jackson Martinez? He would be a great purchase.
