It looks as though Arsenal are in for a busy day as it is now being reported in Spain that Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain is on his way to North London after the two clubs agreed a fee of around £18 Million. It is also being reported by the local media that Higuain and his agent have agreed terms almost immediately after the fee was agreed.

For a player and his agent to agree terms so quickly must mean that Higuain is either unhappy in Madrid or Arsenal have made him an offer he can’t refuse. It is more likely that he is unhappy over there because of Karim Benzema who has regularly kept the Argentine on the bench since the 2010-2011 season. Altough Higuain has had a good run of games recently he feels it is best to move on because any successor to Jose Mourinho might prefer Benzema to lead the line. Either that or Arsenal have unexpectedly offered him a fantastic deal in order to silence the doubters and get a prolific striker in as soon as possible.

It was reported last week that Arsenal had made a bid but it seems that it has now finally all been agreed and the player is on his way to the Emirates Stadium after the Madrid hierarchy mulled over the deal.

Higuain has always been destined for big things in football since his early days at former Argentine giants River Plate. He was casually brought into the first team during his late teens and showed incredible ability by regularly scoring and was soon on the radar of Europe’s top clubs.

In late 2006 he signed for Real Madrid for around £10 Million and was slowly introduced to top flight European football where he scored plenty of goals whenever he was on the pitch. His greatest season at Madrid was in the 2009-2010 season where he scored 27 league goals in the season which was more than Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He then went on to the world cup in South Africa and scored the only hat-trick of the tournament which should have cemented him as one of the world’s best strikers.

The following season he was nudged out of the team by Karim Benzema who has continued to shine as the first choice striker since then. Higuain has become frustrated at this and he now seeks this move to Arsenal.

Arsenal fans rejoice, it looks like we have a 30 goal a season striker arriving imminently.

  1. But i red it on goal.com that he has pre contract with juventus, pls find out the truth before i started jubilating. Arsenal has history

  2. his a good player world class but….i still think jovetic is a better stronger player…but then again they would rather spend 18m not 25.

  3. Nice to hear dat Higuain news but wat is happening to Maxi Gonalons ,Ashley Williams and any KEEPERS’s deal more I prefer a defender who has champs league experience than A.Williams maybe Philp Mexes

    1. Mexes ?? Are u for real. What a carthorse he makes mertesacker look like usain bolt.
So far this last week I have read that we have defintely signed higuain villa jovetic plus wenger is rumouref to still want remy and rooney and dzeko whilst the board want bony. mmmm I wonder who we are going to end up with?

  4. I love the responses, sums up how we view the media now with all these rumours.

Genuinely do hope theres some truth in this because Higuan is very good. I would prefer him at Arsenal to Jovetic because although he is younger and arguably has more potential, Higuan is a higher profile player and more of an out-and-out goalscorer. his positioning in and around the box and ability to shoot is just what we need. Not somebody who is better with assists.
