Have Arsenal won transfer battle with BIGGER bid for `new Xavi`?

One of the latest transfer rumours claims that Arsenal have already had one offer turned down by the Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb for their talented young midfielder Marcelo Brozovic. If the 22-year old really is good enough a player to deserve his nickname of the Croatian Xavi then I can easily understand why Zagreb are reluctant to let him go.

The fact that Brozovic also has a long term contract with the club, lasting until the summer of 2019 means that they are under no pressure to let him leave, but now the Metro have reported that the Gunners have increased their offer and that the transfer now looks like going ahead.

In fact, the report says that Arsene Wenger and his staff have been given permission to discuss personal terms with the player. Arsenal fans may worry that the Gunners are ignoring the weaknesses in the squad and going all out for attacking players again, but the Xavi thing is a bit misleading. Brozovic plays most often in the central midfield role, which we do need extra cover for, and is a highly versatile player who could be a great addition to the Arsenal squad.
