Arsenal have been linked with a whole host of players over the course of this summer, from the likes of Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria and Mesut Ozil, all the way down to some unknown French midfielder from Ligue 2 side Angers FC, but the recent rumours that stand out from the others are links for both Julian Draxler and Salomon Kalou.

Now firstly, the main suggested players still feature the quadruple of Real Madrid players we seem to have an interest in, in Karim Benzema, Mesut Ozil, Angel Di Maria and Iker Casillas. All would be fantastic signings and imagine if we brought all four into the club by the end of the window.

However sadly for Arsenal fans, it seems to be nothing but a dream, and that’s what the next link seems to be in Julian Draxler!

The young German wonder kid has been linked with Arsenal for the last few days, with suggestions that the Gunners have made an enquiry for the midfielder. However I say it is nothing but a dream because the likelihood of Arsenal signing Draxler is ridiculously small. Draxler is valued at over £40 million by his club Schalke 04 in Germany, and Wenger only just plucked up the courage to bid that sort of money on Suarez, so why would he spend that amount on a player that holds nothing more than bags of potential.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see the versatile and tricky midfielder at Arsenal, however for £40 million, they won’t be getting our money, not to mention that the young German has supposedly turned down offers from the two Spanish giants already this summer.

The other player mentioned was Salomon Kalou, and the reason why I find this link so interesting is because like Lyon and French international midfielder Yoann Gourcuff, not a single transfer window goes by without Arsenal being linked for this player and so it interested me that the link came up once again.

However this time around there was a little bit more to add to the suggestion, with information stating that he has a £2.6 million release clause. This states three things to me; one, Wenger will be interested. Two, it’s a well affordable price and three; such a low release clause would suggest he isn’t very good. I think we can all agree that all three aspects are completely true and would you be entirely surprised to see Kalou sign? Although I think it’s unlikely, it’s still very plausible and so we will have to see if this moves any further but for now, it seems like Arsenal have dried up on the transfer front once again.

  1. Yep kalou and possibly gourcuff make total sense to…….wenger but no one else. His summer has been a fotal sham clearing out mediocre deadwood only to replace it with more mediocre deadwood. The problem is he has cleared out 4/5 times the amount of deadwood that he has brought in. I mean really is sanogo better than chamakh park and bendtner? Is flamini better than coquelin denilson and eastmond? Will kalou be better than gervinho arshavin and watt? Who is going to replace mannone and shea? Who is replacing squillaci djourou and miquel. Sure some of the purchases might be better than some of the depadtures but not all of them. Tottenham on the other hand have shed 5 players bale caulker huddlestone parker and gallas but have brought in 7.

  2. Our transfer dealings have made us a laughing stock.
Wenger needs to go, should have gone years ago.

  3. What is really wrong with ‘wonga’ I mean Wenger ‘what f**k we gonna do with a deadwood Kalou checking calibre of the club where does he play for who’s watching Kalou? oh he’s cheap is that the reason? Go out and sign players that will pose threat on other teams. Hah GOOOSHHHH

  4. Wenger will sign Kalou. Then with Sanogo, Bendtner, Flamini and Kalou, Wenger will tell us our squad is strong enough to beat, Napoli and Dortmund. Then when we are out of all competitions he will leave. I hope we sack him before he gets the chance to walk away from the mess he makes.

  5. Wow, real high IQ’s on here…….maybe you guys would probably lose a debate with a cactus….I’m out!
