If you haven’t already heard the breaking news today, Arsenal transfer target Riyad Mahrez has been spotted in London today, ahead of a potential big money move to the capital. Arsenal have been linked with the PFA PLAYER OF THE YEAR for a number of weeks now, in a rumoured deal of around £40 million. The report of Mahrez being in London today therefore obviously excited Arsenal fans, however there is one piece of disappointing news… Mahrez has been spotted at the Chelsea team hotel, where Chelsea’s current boss Conte, is also present.

Although there is no official news about any potential deal being made with Chelsea as of this moment, it’s certainly disappointing news to hear nevertheless. Chelsea have also been linked with the player for a little while, but the rumours had not been quite as strong as Arsenal’s, leading many to believe that perhaps Arsenal were progressing forward with a potential deal, whilst Chelsea remained an interested party.
Arsenal had supposedly been in contact with Leicester for weeks over this possible move, if the rumours are to be believed that is, but as of yet we have not actually seen any progress reported by the reliable sources at Sky or the BBC.

A move for Mahrez may not be seen as essential right now, especially given that our main priorities should be on the forward line and at centre back, but Arsene Wenger should certainly keep his watchful eyes on the developing situation. If Mahrez is on the move, with Chelsea being the favoured party, he will need to pull out all the stops to steal the deal. Quite simply if Mahrez’s is available, Arsenal need to make their interest known and it would be extremely frustrating to see the Algerian sign for Chelsea, whilst we sit back and wait for Wenger to make a attempt at some moves.
