Mikel Arteta thanks Liverpool and explains his hospital visit

After the horror scenes Mikel Arteta provided on Saturday when he was pulled out of the pitch unconscious after a bad attack by Henderson, the Spaniard offered a very emotional interview saying that he has been touched by the way everybody at Liverpool and Arsenal alike joined hands to support him through the horrible period.

“I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their help and friendship towards me on Saturday,”

“After my accident on the pitch, the Arsenal medical staff did a great job, together with everyone at Liverpool Football Club.

“From Anfield, I was taken straight to the Aintree University Hospital, where they checked me, just as a precaution.

“Everything was fine and I was able to travel from the hospital and join up with my team-mates for the train journey back to London.

“I’ve since looked back at the TV images of when I was being taken off and just want to show my appreciation to the Liverpool fans at Anfield.

“It is touching to receive that response from the fans of a great club when I am leaving the pitch injured. Thank you.

“I also want to thank Pepe Reina and the Liverpool players who have sent me messages of support and friendship, this again is really touching and just shows class from a great football club.

“And very importantly, a message to all the fantastic Arsenal fans, not only all those at Anfield on Saturday who were brilliant, but also those who have sent me many messages since Saturday.

“It is hugely appreciated. I cannot tell you how much this means to me.

“It must have looked very serious to everyone as I left the pitch on a stretcher, but I’m pleased to say that I’m fine now and hope to be back on the pitch very soon. Thank you everyone.”

Even though Arteta can’t truly remember it (except from the videos) he was applauded by thousands of people at Anfield and that’s even more amazing judging by his past with Everton. The Arsenal midfielder was lucky to escape without any long term injuries but players like Henderson must be much more careful with these kinds of attacks.

Mikel will be out against Milan as it is mandatory for concussed players to have an enforced rest for a week, but everybody hopes that he’ll be on the pitch in the next Premiership game.

  1. It is times like this that rivalry in soccer must take a back seat to being civilised. Kudos to Liverpool and their supporters for their show of support for our injured Arsenal player.

  2. Get well soon Mikel. Liverpooll are amongst the best in the land .. On a more serious note, Jordan Henderson knew exactly what he was doing, the media cover up of this horrendous incident is appealing .. He should be retrospectively banned. He doesn’t deserve to wear the Red shirt of LFC. Another below par player brought by “burger king Kenny” !!

  3. liverpool fans are aways concern about arsenal. few months ago when they defeated man. city, some of her fans were caught telling Nasri that he shouldn’t have left arsenal. again they have shown some great sportmenship by expressing their emotion for Arteta during the incident on saturday. u will never walk alone Arteta and arsenal!!!!!!! LIVERPOOL motto is with u.
