Missing Mane makes Liverpool NOT Man City main target for Arsenal

It all depends on Arsenal, of course, and whether we can win our games in hand, but the Premier League table right now is looking a lot better from an Arsenal point of view, with our chances of getting another top four finish under Arsene Wenger having gone from stone cold to cool to lukewarm in the space of a week.

And now that we have Sky Sports reporting that Jurgen Klopp will be without his Senegal international striker Sadio Mane for the rest of the season with surgery need to fix his knee injury, I reckon those chances have heated up even more and made the scousers the team for us to hunt down rather than Man City.

Liverpool are two points further ahead of us than Man City but we have an extra game in hand on them and if we take maximum points from those two matches we would be on the same points total as Liverpool, whereas winning our one game in hand on City would still leave us a point behind.

The big thing for me, though, is the awful record that Liverpool have without Mane, as they have failed to win a single game when he has not played. With Lallana, Henderson and Sturridge also out of action and their awful form against lower teams to consider, Liverpool fans will not be looking forward to their trip to Stoke tomorrow and nobody would be surprised to see them drop points.

Is the top four target for the Gunners to shoot out now Klopp’s reds rather than Guardiola’s blues?
