I must admit to being slightly relieved when I heard that French defensive midfielder Yann M’Vila limped out of the friendly match between France and Serbia after just four minutes. For one thing, the 22-year old is very highly rated and England are already looking a bit thin on the ground, creatively speaking.

It was thought that the midfield enforcer’s injury would rule him out of Euro 2012 altogether. This, I felt, could only be good for Arsenal. Wenger knows everything about the player that he needs to, but a good showing at the tournament may have sparked a bidding war. Rennes have already said that nothing will be done about his future until after the Euro’s and were obviously hoping for a price hike.

So, with M’Vila injured, Arsenal could take their time and drive a hard bargain with the French club. The latest news is that the player will attend the Euro’s after all.

“The ankle is not broken. It’s reassuring,” said the France team doctor. Manager Laurent Blanc added, “We can think that he will be fit for the first game. His participation in the tournament is not in question.”

Now Gooners will have to worry that either he compounds the injury and wrecks any potential start to next season, or he plays a blinder and attracts the attention of other clubs willing to pay silly money.

  1. Arsenal fans don’t need to worry as he has already signed for arsenal. And i have been commenting that ‘he will play in the euro’ from last night so it’s a hardly surpise news for me.

    1. @Cj you better be correct mate. We certainly need a rock in front of defenders. Also need to replace Djourou. Any more news there?

  3. @ Cj,

Can you confidently confirm that the M’vila deal is done.

    1. What a WHOLE HOUR! LOL!
Sorry I’ll try and spend ALL DAY sitting here in case any comments come in okay.
(By the way, now you’ve been approved you won’t have to wait again)

  4. He was always the first choice for the centre of midfield for Blanc so if there was even the smallest chance he could make it Blanc would take him.

Although he didn’t have an exceptional season Blanc still trust him over the likes of Toulalan and Cabaye to anchor midfield – that shows how highly rated he is so him playing in the Euros does not surprise me.
