According to the Arsenal transfer rumours the only thing holding up the signing of the Egyptian international from the Swiss club Basel was getting him a permit to play in the English Premier League. But with sports websites like Metro reporting that Mohamed Elneny will be in London today to complete the deal and put pen to paper, that permit must have been sorted.

Hopefully us Arsenal fans will get official confirmation of the successful transfer from the club tomorrow and I am sure that the player will want to get to work as soon as possible. And with Arsene Wenger facing a mini midfield injury crisis and with two games coming up I am sure that the boss would like his new player to be able to help.

The 23-year old is a central midfielder who plays in the holding role or the box-to-box position and with Arsenal expecting a second string Sunderland for the FA cup match at the Emirates on Saturday, will Wenger throw Elneny straight in at the deep end? And if so, which position do you think he should play?
