We still do not know for sure if the Arsenal transfer rumours claiming that Arsene Wenger was ready to break the club transfer record to secure the transfer of the Gabon international striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from the German club Borussia Dortmund were true or not, but we do now know that the 26-year old will not be signing for Arsenal this month.

And the way that the striker dropped this little nugget of transfer news will not have endeared him to the Arsenal fans or our manager and will probably mean that Wenger will not bother trying to sign him again, because he did not do the usual and talk with respect about a potential suitor while saying he was happy with his current club, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Aubameyang said, “I don’t want to go to Arsenal. I won’t leave Dortmund soon.”

He might as well have laughed and called us all a bunch of muppets. So at least we can now forget about the Aubameyang rumours. I still hope they were right, though, because it would mean that the boss really is looking to sign another top class striker to supplement the firepower provided by Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud. Who might be next on the Frenchman’s transfer shopping list?

  1. Why don’t Wilkins look after his beloved Chelsea and leave Arsenal and Arsenal players alone.
