PSG problems give Arsenal HUGE Champions League boost

Despite Arsenal having a fine and enviable record of qualifying for the Champions League group stage and then getting past that and into the knockout phase, there is no getting around the fact that we have not reached the business end of the European cup for way too long.

That has been mainly due to the fact we have been runners up rather than topping the group, although even when we got the great draw of Monaco from the winners’ pot we managed to muck it up. With clubs like Barcelona and Bayern Munich expected to win their groups it is a massive advantage to win our own and avoid them and this year has given Arsenal a great chance to do it.

Not only are PSG a level below the big favourites but they are in a bad way right now, explains a Metro report and so this first group match in Paris offers the Gunners a huge opportunity to take hold of our group. PSG have lost their main centre forward in Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cavani has not been in great form so far.

The other option is the former Real Madrid forward Jese Rodriguez but he spit the dummy at the weekend after being subbed for an ineffective performance as they were held to a surprise draw. The French club are also in the middle of a defensive crisis, with both first choice full backs and some of their centre backs out of action or only just back from injury.

Can Arsenal take advantage of this and finally win a Champions League group?
