Real Madrid could revisit Odegaard’s story

Martin Odegaard, the captain of Arsenal, may return to Real Madrid in the future. If you’re wondering where I got this information, I’m borrowing the words of Spanish journalist Ramon Alvarez, as translated by Sport Witness.Arsenal reportedly agreed to a right of first refusal with Real Madrid when they signed Odegaard to a permanent contract in August 2021. This agreement calls for Arsenal to speak with Real Madrid first about Odegaard’s departure if he decides to leave. According to Ramon, Real Madrid may seek to exploit this option in the future. “There is a kind of right of first refusal for Real Madrid that we will see if at some point it makes sense for them to exercise it,” he said on his YouTube channel, as translated by Sport Witness.

“Odegaard has just turned 24 and is still at a good age. We’ll see, but with [Jude] Bellingham, there would be a more powerful project.

“His (Odegaard’s) talent is special, and he spent very little time here.”

My OpinionDespite not commanding the headlines in the manner of Kevin De Bruyne, Odegaard has been exactly what Arsenal needed. His masterclass against West Ham proved what an incredible star Arteta is; he was the one who set up all three goals Arsenal scored. It’s unclear whether he’d favour a return to Santiago Barnebou. However, given his position as captain and the incredible success of Arteta’s project, I believe he would not want to leave Arsenal; who would?
