Rosicky and Mertesacker confirm new Arsenal contracts

Arsenal fans could do with a bit of good news after last weeks defeat to Stoke City, and we have been given a fillip before this weekend’s FA Cup match with the news that Thomas Rosicky and (the future Arsenal captain) Per Mertesacker have both signed new contracts with the club.

Rosicky is getting on a bit now but his performances make him look ten years younger, and he still has the enthusiasm of his younger days and says he won’t leave Arsenal until we win the Premiership title!

He said simply: “I want to win the league with Arsenal”.

“It’s my big goal and I will do everything I can to achieve it.”

Go on Thomas!

The BFG can perhaps expect a few years more than Rosicky left on his Gunners career, and he is very pleased with his progress so far. He said: “I’m really looking forward to having more years coming up with this fantastic club,”

“It took me a while to realise I can be a main part of this squad. Now I want to show that. We need to get everyone ready at this club and get the best out of everyone.”

Its nice to see Wenger finally appreciating that older players (these two are 29 and 33) are worth keeping at the club instead of cashing in on them too quickly. The manager said: “They are players of exceptional quality and experience,” Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger told the club’s website.

“They have consistently proven themselves at the highest level.

“There is a great feeling of togetherness and belief in the group and this news will only help to strengthen this further.”

We need as much togetherness as possible with this months run of fixtures. Now get Sagna signed up please????
