Even though Arsenal’s move for Koln’s Lukas Podolski was proving to be a sure summer hit, Arsene Wenger might still encounter big problems now that Bundesliga giants Schalke 04 are also highly interested in snatching the German international.
Podolski declared earlier this year in numerous occasions that he’s unsatisfied with the current situation at the German club and that he’s interested in leaving in the summer. The striker also slipped two tips for Wenger to pick up, saying that he wants to move to a Champions League playing side and that if he is to transfer abroad he’d like to go to Arsenal.
Despite the interviews no bids have been made official and although we can say that it’s not the transfer window, we all fear that the French manager will be outran by some other club and end up losing the striker as he did with so many other players so far in the last 15 years.
If Podolski will choose Schalke he’ll have to really prove his skill because it will be an impossible mission to impose himself in a team with strikers like Raul and Huntelaar. If he will join the Gunners he’s most likely to end up playing where Gervinho’s playing now or even become a second striker with Robin as the target man.
