Serie A midfielder confirms Arsenal interest

There have been many Arsenal transfer rumours linking the Genoa midfielder Kevin Constant with a move to the Emirates, but now the player himself has confirmed that the Gunners have been making enquiries.

He said: “I am flattered by interest shown by clubs such as Arsenal and Lazio.”

“I am playing regularly and am very happy to be here in Genoa. I am 24 years old and would want to play regularly at this age, so all this has to be clear before I would consider moving to a new club.”

The French-born midfielder played for the France U17 side as a youngster but opted to play for his parents country, Guinea, when he came of age and has made 12 appearances for them so far. He came through the ranks at Toulouse and moved to Italy with Chievo in 2010 before being snapped up by Genoa last summer.

His French roots would seem to make him an obvious target for Wenger but the Arsenal boss has already stated that his midfield is too crowded for him to bring in any more in January. Unless of course there are a few leaving first……
