There is a report claiming that two of the most promising players coming through the Arsenal academy and youth system could soon be heading to the Championship club Leicester City. Both of them are 20-years old and are around that make or break point in their Arsenal careers.

There is an argument that both players could actually come in handy this season, especially at the start, because of the injuries to Thomas Vermaelen and Nacho Monreal. Miquel can play as a centre back or left back, while Yennaris plays at right back or in midfield. If Wenger thinks they are unlikely to feature for the first team, however, this could be the perfect move for them.

Leicester are a good club and made it into the play-offs last season. The manager Nigel Pearson has assembled a good squad and plays football in the right way, passing and moving rather than hoofing it up to a big striker. I think it would be a good club for them to go on loan to, and they should get plenty of fooyball. Pearson said a few days ago that they would not be signing any more players because of FFP, so the two Arsenal boys would be very welcome there.

Yennaris went to Notts County at the end of last season, but Leicester are a better club in a better division. Miquel has already made 14 first team appearances for the Gunners but needs to push on. Both players have shown signs that they can make it, but they need regular football at a good level to hone their skills. I think Leicester could be the perfect move for both.

  1. Until vermaelen and monreal are fit miquel cannot go anywhere. Similarly until diaby and frimpong are fit yennaris shouldn’t go either. I’m surprised that aneke coquelin djourou and campbell have been allowed to go considering how many players have left permanently.

  2. I don’t know if it’s too late now, but in my opinion he should’ve gone, and got some first team action.
