The France and Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud took his fair (or unfair depending on how you see it) share of stick last season, a lot of it from Arsenal fans. And one of the big signings we were hoping for during the summer transfer window as another top class striker.
Some would argue that this is what Arsene Wenger has done with the transfer of Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona, but many see the Chilean as more of a wide forward, even though he does play through the middle for his country. But with Theo Walcott due back from his anterior cruciate problem soon, it certainly looks like the pressure to score goals will be taken off the big Frenchman’s shoulders.
Theo certainly seems to think that he and the new forward are going to strike fear into the hearts of our Premier League rivals, as the comment that the England international posted along with this photo of him and the former Barcelona man at the Arsenal training ground proves.
Theo wrote, “Watch out #PremierLeague Me and @Alexis_Sanchez will be a deadly force!! #afc #COYG #SpeedMatters”
So should Arsenal’s big striker be worried about having these two flying forwards as competition, or will it just mean that the pressure is off him and his link-up play and usefulness as a target man will be much more appreciated?
