Lukas Podolski may have endeared himself even more to the Arsenal fans this week, with his classic tweet. He was reacting to the Arsenal transfer rumours doing the rounds about him and a possible switch to our north London rivals Tottenham,as reported by the BBC.

The German Gunner wrote, “Hell will freeze over before this transfer happens.”

Not keen then Lukas? But as much as the Arsenal fans would have loved that bit of spud bashing, it is the manager that he needs to win over and Arsene Wenger has not responded well to his recent calls to be be played more. He even left the striker out of the match day squad completely in the last game.

But that move backfired on the Frenchman, as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had a poor game and we could have done with the finishing power of Podolski as we struggled to break down a dogged Hull City defence. So Podolski’s latest words will put even more pressure on his beleagured boss.

The striker said, “I have a contract with Arsenal until 2016. I feel at home in London and get on with the fans very well.

“Nevertheless, I will try to speak with the coach and the club to see what is best for all parties.

“I want to play football and am not the type to sit on the bench until my contract expires.”

So he might not want to play for Spurs and who can blame him? But the message to Wenger is clear. Play me or I’m off, and it is not as if Arsenal are doing brilliant things without him is it?
