Arsenal told to cough up £12m for Debuchy! Is he worth it?

I sat and watched the France v Nigeria match last night with my Arsenal goggles on. There was a lot to see from a Gunners point of view, with Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny both starting the game. Unfortunately for him and us, the QPR striker Loic Remy did not appear and the Real Madrid star Karim Benzema was not at his best.

But the main point of this article is the man that the Daily Star is reporting as the one Arsene Wenger wants to replace yet another Frenchman, Bacary Sagna. Newcastle United’s Mathieu Debuchy has apparently overtaken the Toulouse and Ivory Coast star Serge Aurier in the prof’s thoughts.

Spurs fighting Arsenal over two TOP transfer targets

Remember last summer, Arsenal fans, when we were all getting stressed out and wondering what the hell Arsene Wenger was playing at in the transfer market? What made it even worse was that our north London rivals, Tottenham, were spending money like crazy and bringing in new signings on what seemed like a daily basis.

Well, that all worked out brilliantly for them didn’t it? So maybe that is why they have gone back to the tried and tested method of waiting to see who Arsenal are being linked with and then trying to hijack the deal. Because the latest Arsenal transfer rumours suggest that the spuds are homing in on two of the players heavily linked with a summer transfer to the Emirates.

Arsenal take a step closer to announcing our first new signing

Could it be that Arsenal have finally begun their summer spending spree? If the latest reports from France are to be believed then it looks like Serge Aurier is set to be the first acquisition for the Gunners.

According to the Metro, the Gunners have agreed personal terms with the young Ivorian defender and now Arsenal need to agree a transfer fee with Toulouse. It seems that L’Equipe in France have reported that Aurier will sign a five-year contract on wages of £60,000-a-week to come to the Emirates next season.

The 2 defenders that are top of Arsenal transfer list

Arsene Wenger has already suggested that he will not sell any of his Arsenal players if he does not want to, so the likes of Thomas Vermaelen, who is reportedly looking for a move away from north London to find a regular first team place, may find themselves frustrated.

I am not sure how well this would work out, especially when you consider that the Belgian has just one year left on his current contract. Do we really want our only back up defender being a player who is at the club against his will? Come to that, surely we should have more than one back up defender.

Arsenal transfer rumours – Aurier, Rami and Fabianski

As the end of season approaches there are lots of Arsenal rumours flying around the web, and according to reports Wenger may well have a few deals wrapped up before the World Cup, despite his statement to the contrary.

First up Tutto Mercato Web report the Gunners have already agreed a five-year-deal with the 21 year-old right-back Serge Aurier as a replacement for the outgoing Bacary Sagna. the 21 year-old Toulouse defender has long been touted as an Arsenal target but now the Italians are reporting it as a done deal…..

That’s more like it! Arsenal linked with unknown right back

Never mind Higuain, Fellaini and Fabregas; Arsenal are being linked with a young and exciting Ivorian right back currently playing for Toulouse. Aurier previously spoke during the week about his interest in a move to Everton and Marseille, but the player tweeted the following picture of himself on holiday wearing an Arsenal replica jersey!

So who is Serge Aurier? He’s a 20 year old Ivorian full back that has attracted interest from several teams after his recent impressive season for Toulouse. When discussing his future earlier this week, he spoke about his admiration for both Everton and Marseille.
