Arsenal Still In With A Chance To Sign Llorente?

Athletic Bilbao’s president Josu Urrutia has admitted that he can’t keep his top star Fernando Llorente at the club against his own will, but has declared that the Arsenal target will only leave if the buyout clause is met by a club.

Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger will probably be looking to put the money the Gunners will get for Robin Van Persie to work fast, and the buyout clause of £28million could be met by Arsenal if they add just a little to the fee they will get from the sale of the Dutch turncoat to Manchester United.

“If the player does not really want to be at this club, [someone] has to pay his buyout clause,” Urrutia told Spanish newspaper El Confidencial.

Arsenal’s team problems were almost rendered obsolete after the Gunners brought in Giroud, Podolski and Cazorla, but Robin Van Persie’s departure now leaves the French manager with a new set of problems to deal with, especially given the fact that the Gunners were unable to offload a few of their deadwood as Wenger would have liked.

Could the 6ft 5in Llorente be the man to spearhead Arsenal’s season?

Arsenal Target Javi Martinez Not Interested In Leaving Bilbao

Arsenal target Javi Martinez has snubbed the possibility of him leaving his current side Athletic Bilbao, and despite receiving intense interest from top clubs around Europe, he’s due to stay in Spain.

Martinez has been wanted by United, Arsenal and Barcelona, with the last two thought to be the ones which will eventually fight against each other for his signature.

Arsenal are in great need of midfield reinforcements, and if the deal for first choice signing Yann M’Vila will go through, Arsene Wenger is sure to direct his attention back to Martinez.

“The fact that Bielsa is staying is great news for the club. I think he wants to continue on the work he has done so far and give continuity to the group.”, said Martinez
.
“There’s a lot of talk about potential transfers but both [Fernando] Llorente and I have contracts.”

“I’m not thinking about leaving. I’m an Athletic player, if you ask me what I think about being a target for Barcelona then I will say that’s just a sign that I’m doing well. But I’m at home at Athletic and I have a contract.”

Arsene Wenger’s interest in Martinez will be tough to materialize given Barcelona’s interest. If rumours are to be correct, The Gunners are also likely to make a move for Argentine defensive midfielder Lucas Biglia, so Wenger still has a few choices to make.

Top Arsenal and Tottenham striker target admits Premiership desire

The prolific Spanish striker Fernando Llorente has been instrumental in helping Athletico Bilbao overachieve this season by reaching the Finals of the Europa League and the Copa Del Rey, which has made many Premiership teams step up and take notice.

Both Arsenal and Tottenham have been strongly linked wth a move for the giant 27 year-old after he managed to knock in 29 goals in 53 appearances for Bilbao this season, and he has told reporters that he is tempted by a move to the Premier League.

Llorente said: “I might end up playing in England, who knows? At the moment I’m at Athletic Bilbao, but who knows later.

“Xabi Alonso and Fernando Torres have told me about the immense respect that the fans have for their players there.”

Llorente has already scored seven goals for Spain and with David Villa injured he could get a big chance to impress further at the up-coming Euros. If Robin Van Persie finally decides to leave the Emirates then surely Llorente would be a more than able replacement?
