Wenger – People didn’t know that Arsenal can defend too!

Everyone is used to seeing Arsene Wenger young Arsenal teams putting opponents under relentless pressure with their beautiful football, but last night the tables were turned at Everton.

Arsenal started smartly and scored early on through Thomas Vermaelen, but then the Gunners sat back and soaked up the pressure from Everton for most of the match.

Arsene Wenger was quietly impressed after the game. “We were resilient, focused, with a great desire to defend and our defence played very well tonight,” he said.

“You’ve seen a side of us that people don’t know.”

Thierry Henry set to be Arsenal’s ONLY signing in January

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made many pronouncements about the rumoured Arsenal targets. It is certainly possible that he is just creating a smoke-screen to put everyone off finding out who his targets are, but I am beginning to think not!

When asked about whether he was targeting Lukas Podolski Wenger said “No!” curtly. He has made it clear that he only needs a short-term striker to cover while the African Nations Cup is on, and so the signing of Henry is nearly certain now.

Arsenal Looking To Transfer New Full-Backs

Arsenal are officially on the market for a couple of full-backs after club officials confirmed that left full-back Andre Santos will have to undergo surgery.

“Arsenal Football Club can confirm that, following investigations and subsequent medical opinions by club specialists, left-back Andre Santos will have surgery to repair ligament damage in his right ankle sustained in the game against Olympiakos last week,” read the statement released on the club’s official website.

“Andre will have surgery in Brazil this week and is expected to be out for around three months.

“Everyone at the club wishes him well.”
