Although the transfer window still has around 5 weeks before it’s closed on the 2nd of September, it has already been 8 weeks since it was opened in June and so far we have seen several players labelled as deadwood leave the club, but we are yet to see any more additions to the club aside from young French Under 20 international striker Yaya Sanogo.
It looks like Arsenal are lumbered with the grinning fool that is Andre Santos for another season, after the Brazilian club Gremio declined to make his loan move from the Gunners permanent. The 30-year old showed once again how little he understands or cares about the Arsenal fans by moaning about his plight.
“Gremio had an agreement with Arsenal and I had to return.
“I wanted to stay. Gremio were fair regarding everything. I felt well there and I wanted to win a title before leaving.
“Unfortunately there is no deal and I had to return to Arsenal.”
It has been announced by Arsenal that three first team players have/will leave the club come 30th June 2013, as their contracts will expire on that date. As I am sure you are aware the three players are Denilson, Arshavin and Squillaci, who alone will not only free up three important squad places under the Premier League regulations and restrictions but it also frees up an unbelievable amount of wages.
Sebastian Squlliaci was on a reported £50,000 a week, not only a ridiculous amount for a player of his calibre but not to mention he didn’t play a single league game for Arsenal last season, amounting to an unbelievable amount over the course of the year.
Reading the Arsenal rumours every morning becomes more and more depressing, especially when you read things like Newcastle signing the classy striker Papa Cisse for just 7m quid. Surely he would have been worth buying as an excellent backup to Van Persie? We have all given up on Chamakh, and Park just seems to have been brought in as a cheerleader……
The repeated rumour that Arsenal are going to try and get Kaka on loan from Real Madrid is just a load of Kaka! Not only has Wenger already said that the Arsenal midfield is already “too crowded”, there is not a hope in hell that Wenger would sanction matching the wages he gets in Madrid. Oh and it started from Caughtoffside…Nuff said!
Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger is likely to do a bit of a spring cleaning in January when the transfer market will be opening, and will look to sell some of the players which are no longer motivated enough at Arsenal.
Rosicky is one who was often linked with a possible departure, but the French manager denied the rumours:
“Rosicky is at Arsenal and he remains at Arsenal,” Wenger said.
The most likely to leave Arsenal this January are Squillaci, Arshavin and Chamakh.
It is being reported that Arsenal have offered the French centre-half Sebastien Squillaci to Spanish side Espanyol. Squillaci has made only one appearance so far this season and an exit seems inevitable.
After signing from Sevilla last summer, the 31-year-old has had a torrid time at the Emirates despite making 30 appearances in his first season with the club. He has lacked consistency and has made numerous high-profile blunders. He has also had his fair share of injuries. If you’d ask me, he’s just not good enough for the English game.
