Wenger admits his “shock” at Arsenal being 2-0 down

Arsenal came back to earn a well-deserved FA Cup winners medal yesterday, but Arsene Wenger admitted that he was very worried when his team were 2-0 down after just nine minutes against a mid-table Hull side.

He said after the game: “We made a demonstration of how to respond to being 2-0 down, and a demonstration of how not to start a cup final!”

“I was shocked. We were a bit hesitant and you wonder if the shock would be too hard, but this team has a special spirit and a special togetherness to respond.”

Wenger – Of course Arsenal winning trophies matters!

The Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been reminiscing about the last time he won the FA Cup back in 2005, and how the Gunners were outplayed by Man United but still ended up winning on penalties.

That was considered as “winning ugly” in those days, and Wenger is hoping that Arsenal can win in a bit more style this time around, and seems amazed at how long ago it was as that was the last trophy that we actually won!

“You don’t prepare games with that [winning ugly] in your mind,” Wenger said. “You prepare by thinking that the best chance to win is to play at your best.

Arteta – Arsenal have no fear about winning the Cup

The veteran Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta does not think that the Gunners’ nine-year long wait for a trophy will affect the players mindset ahead of todays FA Cup Final against Hull City at Wembley today.

And the Spaniard is not happy that Jose Mourinho accused Arsene Wenger of being a Specialist In Failure, especially after his manager’s long record of success with Arsenal. Arteta said: “For some people success is only to win a trophy and nothing else matters.

“But analyse everything Arsene Wenger has done for this club, and if you think he is a failure, then I have a different opinion.

Podolski – Arsenal WILL win the Cup Final!

It is good to see confidence running through the Arsenal team, and after beating Hull City convincingly twice already this season, there is no reason to think we could lose this time around. Lukas Podolski obviously feels the same way as I do!

He said: “We are on a good run and are favourites.

“We play very well in the last five or six matches so we go to Wembley with thousands of our fans and we must play like in our last matches.

All the pressure is on Arsenal….

Wigan may be the underdogs of this game but the pressure is certainly on Arsenal who need to end what will otherwise be 9 years without a major trophy. Almost a decade ago Arsenal won the FA Cup with that famous penalty shoot out with Manchester United, this time however our opponents Wigan Athletic don’t quite boast the same stature, but will be a hard test none the less.

Arsenal and Wigan both have to win- Get ready for Goals!

It should be a good game for the neutral, as they say, between Arsenal and Wigan at the Emirates on Tuesday. Results today have left Wigan needing six points from their last two games, while Arsenal need to win to go back above Tottenham into the top four and leave our Champions League destiny in our own hands.

Wigan tend to play an attacking style of football anyway, while Arsenal dominate possession and are the joint top scorers at home in the Premier League, with 43 goals from 18 games, the same as Man United. Neither team can afford to play safe, so it should ba fast and furious game.

Arjen Robben On His Way To Arsenal?

Bayern Munich’s winger Arjen Robben claims that he is very unhappy at Munich and he can’t wait to find a way out of there. The shocking statement put Premiership giants Arsenal and Chelsea on red alert as they’re rumoured to be highly interested in snatching the star winger in the summer.

“I am now considering the options I have and I will get.” Robben said. “It was great to play at Wembley and to see many people I know. It was only my second international game for Holland since the World Cup and it was great that this was in London at Wembley.”
