It has been reported today that Theo Walcott is hoping to return to the Arsenal team this weekend for the crucial match against West Brom which will finally decide whether the Gunners finish the season in the coveted Third Place in the Premiership.

Walcott is Van Persie’s preferred strike partner as he has provided the most assists for the Dutchman this season, and a good performance from the young Englishman will also have the added advantage of impressing the new England manager Roy Hodgson who will manage West Brom for the last time on Sunday.

There is obviously the danger of Walcott agravating his hamstring injury, which he sustained against Chelsea, but Wenger seemed reasonably confident that this was not as serious as was first thought.

Wenger said: “If all goes well he is back in normal training on Thursday or Friday. Then we have to assess the risk of a setback, so we will see. If all goes well he could be back for the next weekend.”

If he does return it will be a good boost for Arsenal ahead of such a crucial match. Another positive effect of a win against West Brom is that it will practically assure Arsenal that both Walcott and Van Persie are much more likely to sign their contract extensions this summer.

  2. belive it or not walcott has been missed in the past few games.

sagna and gervinhio seem like they dont even know each other

walcott and sagna down the right work well with each other

and in the past few games we have missed someone who can just run with the ball.

past few games there been to much slow passing and not enought just running at the other team .

  3. Arteta is also been missed clearly in midfield. Wenger has to sort out the midfield and defence in addition to attacking back up.
