This Man United player should never be an Arsenal target!

Mourinho doesn’t want him, but neither does Arsene, I hope!!

Arsenal may have been left disappointed by the news that it is increasingly unlikely that the club will sign Leicester and England international striker Jamie Vardy, but the transfer rumours for potential incoming targets are still in full swing.

The Daily Mirror is today reporting that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is considering a move for Manchester United’s Daley Blind. It is reported that new United manager Jose Mourinho, Arsene Wenger’s enemy is football, is unsure on whether he has room for Blind in his plans for next season. Mourinho could therefore be willing to sell the player and media reports today suggest that Wenger is not afraid to contact Mourinho over a potential move for the Dutchman.

Blind, who signed for United in a £16 million deal in 2014 is unlikely to be sold for quite so much if he moves on this summer. Wenger has never been one for splashing the cash, unless it is for a truly exceptional talent and so if United wish to recoup the fee they paid for the Dutchman, then Wenger certainly won’t be paying.

Daley Blind is a player that Arsenal don’t necessarily need in my opinion. It’s a fact that he’s a versatile player who used to play predominately in a central defensive position, however has been used in various positions on the pitch for United, including centre back and left back. Blind’s versatility would be a major factor come the usual injuries that Arsenal pick up but my main concern is that I don’t think he is really good enough for Arsenal nor is he necessarily needed.

We don’t need another midfielder and we already have a number of players who can fit in the defensive role. This includes Coquelin, Elneny as well as the recent acquisition of Granit Xhaka. Blind therefore isn’t really needed in midfield, whilst in defence, I would hope that we would be targeting a player who not only has a greater ability in defence, but also a player who is naturally a centre back rather than a converted midfielder.

If Mourinho really is considering selling Blind, then I hope Wenger isn’t thinking about biting the hand off to finalise a deal for the Dutchman as the media may be suggesting. Arsenal have no need for another midfielder, whilst we need to sign one of the many natural defenders that we have already been linked with this summer, rather than converted Daley Blind.

  1. This is typical Arsene Wenger, cheap and anything on bargain, he will go for. Wonder if opening a pawn shop was part of his plans when the latter retiring in the coming years…I’m sure that his business will blossom like a sweet cherry as there will be no one his match when comes to bargaining for discounts.
