Wenger Adds Another Talented Striker To The Shortlist

The Arsenal manager’s chase for a top striker continues, and even though he supposedly managed to transfer German striker Lukas Podolski, he’s looking for somebody he could use in the centre in front of goal rather than on the wings.

So far Montpellier’s Olivier Giroud seems the most likely target, with the French striker a clear favorite of Wenger’s. He’s this season’s top scorer in France, and he also impressed at the national team level so he would surely be able to help Arsenal in their trophy chase even though he’s unlikely to reach Henry’s potential.

Schalke’s Klaas Jan Huntelaar was also intensely linked with Arsenal given the contract situation of the Dutch striker and his relationship with his fellow Dutchman Robin Van Persie with whom he’s always pairing up in front for the “Oranges” side.

Now it seems that Wenger is ready to add another name on his possible shortlist as rumours point that the Gunners are trying to lure Dortmund’s Lewandowski to the Emirates. The 23-year-old Pole could be persuaded by his national team colleagues Fabianski and Szczesny to join the London side, and his rumoured transfer fee of £15 million wouldn’t make Wenger shy away from the deal.

  1. Wenger better bring in world class star who can turn things around, not the so called suckling babies

  2. With the cautiuos reputation Wenger has developed over the years it`s difficult to see him changing pace in an ever changing market place. Unless the transfer rules are radically changed then Arsenal will have to rely to a great degree on luck to land their quarry. This is not a criticism of Wenger, if anything it`s a criticism of the system. So, we must forget the 25/30 million lot and try to buy those players who are experienced but still maturing in the 10/15 million pound bracket and develop them further.

  3. Everything about the so called prof.Wenger is quite provoking.Another transfer window is here again, why is it that he like spending cash in buying those untalented players that cannot even fight for trophies or make the club to feel great among other teams in the world. Am highly disappointed about his economic spending, let him use what he have to get what he want. Mr. WENGER pls better be serious because the fans all over the world are not happy about ur affair in that great club. Its either you leave the club or you better make we the fans proud of ARSENAL 4LIFE. Boys are not smiling.
