There have been numerous Arsenal rumours linking Lukas Podolski with possible move to Inter Milan in January after Roberto Mancini admitted that the German striker was one of his possible targets.

Arsene Wenger came out and said that Inter were “a joke” when he was first asked about the rumours, but he was a bit more expansive today when he revealed that he was waiting for the Italian giants to come back with a serious bid to persuade him to allow Podolski to move away from the Emirates.

Wenger said after today’s game: “The first proposal was farcical. After, when they come back a bit more seriously, then you will see what happens now.”

Then he was aked if it is inevitable that Podolski will be allowed to leave, but he replied: “Inevitable? In the transfer window that’s very difficult to say but we’ll see what happens.”

With Giroud banned and Sanogo and Welbeck injured, many Arsenal fans thought that the German was nailed on to start in today’s game against Southampton, but Wenger told us that Podolski was unavailable to be picked: “Podolski was injured today. He had a tight groin. He was not available but he had a big chance to start.”

It would seem now that Podolski has played his last game for Arsenal, but, As enger said, it is not inevitable!
