Arsene Wenger seems totally committed to not bringing any new players this month, and as usual he blames the Gunners annual injury list as the reason for Arsenal’s bad showing lately..
He believes that if he could transfer some of his players internally (e.g. from the medical centre) then that could help his team more than bringing in any sub-standard outsiders.
“At the moment we are not close to signing anybody.” Wenger said. “The transfer market is internal for us. We recently played with ten players out, to have only two or three out would help us a lot, much more than the transfer market.
“You can look around at all the big clubs and who bought players? Nobody, because you can’t find players at the moment who can strengthen big clubs.”
Errr. Chelsea have bought Gary Cahill for 6m and are sealing the move of Kevin De Bruyne
Newcastle have nabbed Papiss Cisse for 8m
QPR have signed Taye Taiwo on loan and Man City’s Onuahu for 4.7m
Chelsea’s Alex has joined PSG
A lot of those are very good defenders that could have got Arsenal off the hook in the last few games, and Cisse could be the striking buy of the season if he maintains his form from the Bundesliga. Perhaps Arsenal should stop investing in the Medical Department and start investing in strong players instead?
