Wenger is told to keep his hands off Podolski

According to reports in Germany, Arsenal’s interest in Koln’s German striker Lukas Podolski could be in vain considering that club’s officials have declared that they are not willing to let Podolski go regardless of the transfer fee they are being offered.

This could be understandable considering the fact that Podolski is the key man at Koln and that he scored an amazing number of 11 goals in 15 played games for the club so far this season. Koln’s sporting director Volker Finke spoke about interest coming from Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow for Podolski:

‘There were no numbers on a possible transfer or period when the transfer should take place,’ he told Bild.

‘But that does not matter. We want to extend his contract.’

Podolski is still under contract with the German side until the summer of 2013, so if he won’t agree to a contract extension Arsenal could buy him rather cheaply in the Summer.
