Wenger proud of Arsenal’s goalscoring record this season

2

Arsene Wenger always knew it was going to be an uphill challenge for Arsenal to match last season’s goalscoring feats after selling Robin Van Persie to Manchester United, but the rest of the team has stepped up and become only the fourth team in Premiership history to have more than three players totting up double figures in their goals scored column.

Wenger said on Arsenal.com: “We lost Van Persie and, after that, it’s very difficult to find a player who will score 35 goals,”

“But when a team has quality, it always finds a different way. We have players like Walcott, Podolski, Giroud and Cazorla who can score goals and that’s what happened.”

That is certainly good news and bodes well for Arsenal’s future, but the fasct remains that if we had instead forced Van Persie to stay here for another season it may well have been Arsenal up there on top of the League instead of the Dutchman’s new paymasters.

Us Arsenal fans can only hope that Wenger fulfills his duties to bring in a new prolific goalscorer to complement our present squad and finally give us a real chance of challenging for trophies next season.

  1. Wenger is very right and true. We used to score more goals every season but the main problem is how to preserve even the little lead we have..for instance, currently we are not comfortable till we register 3 nil win vs any opponent;though not constant. So, if we could have the decent holding mid fielders at least 2 we would be power house in europe..look at the Buyern Munchen, last season man city,Mourinho’s Chelsea to mention few, they register sometimes a very narrow win but since their defense is secured they end triumphant..it is true that we specifically need somebody like Iguain, but the defensive midfielder is our chief priority.
