Arsene Wenger gave an interview to Tf1, the French TV station, in which he spoke about Montpellier and France striker Olivier Giroud as if he was already a gunner.

“I think he has exceptional potential and will integrate very well in our collective and our way of playing.”

Arsenal and Wenger in particular are known for playing their cards close to their chest, so this is the surest sign yet that the completion of the transfer is just a formality. The manager himself described the deal as “90 percent.”

He was also giving his opinion on Lukas Podolski’s performances for Germany in Euro 2012, and he has been pleased with what he saw. Podolski was awarded the man of the match award for his display against Denmark, and Wenger remarked “he has superb team work…I am very happy with what I’ve seen from him.”

Giroud has had little chance to impress so far at the tournament. France play Spain on Saturday night and may well be needing a goal late on in the game. Hopefully, us Gooners will get a decent look at Giroud before ha puts on an Arsenal shirt.

Hopefully Chamakh and Bendtner will be gone before he arrives just in case whatever they have got is contagious.

  1. This is a classic case of Lost In Translation.

Somebody his mixing the comments made about Giroud and Podolski.

“I think he has exceptional potential and will integrate very well in our collective and our way of playing.” -> Was said about Podolski.

  2. “oui arsene est un grand homme, il est français ce qui aide beaucoup” this is a post from Giroud’s twitter page and this statement means “Yes arsene is a great man, he is French which help a lot”
Hope this clear the doubt of anyone thinking the deal is just a smoke screen.
