If the Arsenal transfer rumours hold any water, then Arsene Wenger has been considering a summer transfer mover for the international team mate of the Arsenal and Chile star Alexis Sanchez. And yesterday the player in question, Charles Aranguiz got the chance to show what he could do at the Emirates stadium as Brazil managed a lucky 1-0 win over Chile.

If that was an audition for his move to Arsenal this summer, Aranguiz did his chances no harm whatsoever with a performance filled with desire, determination, energy and ability with and without the ball. His closing down and work rate reminded me of Alexis and perhaps it is some more of that South American grit that Wenger wants to add to the centre of our midfield.

The 25-year old has made no secret of his wish to come and join his international team mate in the Premier League either, as an ESPN report shows. Despite only joining his current club Internacional from Brazil last year, Aranguiz is clearly ready to move on to bigger and better things.

He said of Arsenal, “They’re a great team, and it would be a dream but for now that’s all it is, a dream.

“I don’t know anything about it. I’ve heard about it through the press but nobody has talked to me.”

Should Wenger make Aranguiz the second Chile star in the Arsenal dressing room?
