Why Arsenal boss is being patient on Benzema transfer

2

After quite a few Arsenal transfer rumours linking us with a move for the France international striker this summer, The Sun revved up the rumour mill today by reporting that the Gunners were ready with an offer of around £40 million to tempt his current club Real Madrid to sell.

But the Arsenal fans soon had to rein in our hopes of signing this striker, as Arsene Wenger personally denied the rumour in a pre-season press conference reported by Sky Sports. Or did he?

The Arsenal boss had this to say on the subject, “I don’t know where that story has come from. But that’s not happening at the moment.”

Just read those last three words again. Why not just say the rumour was not true? Why not stop at saying it was not happening?

So maybe it is not happening right now but is a definite possibility for the coming weeks and there is reason for us to hope that this is the case because there have been reports in the Spanish media that Rafa Benitez is planning to use Benzema much less than the previous Real Madrid managers, with Ronaldo being handed the ce3ntre forward role.

If this does happen when La Liga kicks off next month, Wenger could then make his move and offer Benzema a way out of Spain and off the bench. So come on Rafa, do us a favour!!
