The recent Arsenal transfer rumours seem to be pointing to the Gunners having three main transfer targets for the much needed role of strengthening our talented but sometimes lightweight midfield. They are the Real Madrid and Germany star Sami Khedira, Lars Bender from the Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen and Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton and France.

For me, the choice for Arsene Wenger should clearly be for the Saints’ midfielder. Not only do his stats more than match up with the other two, Schneiderlin is already playing in the Premier League so the Gunners would not have to worry about how long it would take him to settle in to English football.

Add to that the fact that the 24-year old has already stated his desire of moving to a bigger club with European football to offer, and that his transfer fee and wages are likely to be lower than Khedira’s and Bender’s and you have a clear winner. But Wenger cannot afford to consider his options for too long, as our north Londom rivals, according to The Express, are trying to wrap his signature quickly.

The new Tottenham manager Pochettino was in charge of Schneiderlin at St. Mary’s and is already in talks with the Frenchman over a transfer to White Hart Lane, while Wenger is still in Brazil doing his World Cup pundit job for French TV. Come on Arsene, pick up the phone and do not let the spuds nick this great player who would be just right for Arsenal.
