In recent weeks Arsenal have been linked with a few strikers such as Christian Benteke, Gonzalo Higuain and Stevan Jovetic just to name a few. Things concerning Benteke at the moment are quiet and Higuain and Jovetic look to be going to Juventus, so who will Arsenal turn to next? David Villa is a good option or Arsene Wenger could take a gamble that would be a great success for the club if it pays off.

The gamble I’m talking about is another Spaniard who goes by the name Fernando Torres. Don’t laugh and don’t dismiss it, Torres could be available this summer if Chelsea are out striker hunting and with Mourinho possibly returning with targets of his own. Arsenal should try and get him for a fraction of the £50 Million that Chelsea paid. Currently Torres is a massive 33/1 (with BetVictor) to join Arsenal and could be a very interesting wager.

Torres didn’t cost £50 Million for nothing you know, we all remember what a player he was in his first two or three seasons at Liverpool and he was the most sought after striker in Europe. If, and this is a big if, Arsenal can get him back to his best and scoring goals for fun, the club could wake Europe’s biggest sleeping giant.

Torres may be reaching his late 20’s now but there must still be ability in there and Arsene Wenger could be the man to bring it back – if he believes in Torres and gives him the trust and confidence that his last few managers haven’t. Rafa Benitez has done a good job of improving Torres because he has had a good season overall scoring over 20 goals and he has been left on the bench most of the time since Demba Ba’s arrival.

If Torres was given time on the pitch as the main man and had the full support of Arteta, Cazorla, Wilshere and the wingers, he could lead Arsenal back to glory and the top of English football.

With a bit of luck, Torres could be the man to have the greatest impact at the club since Thierry Henry.

This is a big gamble. But it could be one worth taking.

  1. This is just insane. the only reason he scored is because of the brilliance of mata. He is way past is prime and there is no way wenger would spend 20+ million on a player who’s touching 30. Chelsea wouldn’t settle for any less

  2. torres and villa were awesome once and a spend of around £30m would not be a risk, in my opinion. imagine two front threes of:

    Walcott giroud podolski

    chamberlain torres villa

place wilshire as the CAM behind one and Cazorla as the other and you have something very impressive.

  3. I totally agree as we play with one up top with support from our midfielders I think the lion should roar again! At the end of the season I improved a lot and the fact he is a winner will bring that mentality to the squad. He’s a good professional which Wenger likes and would fit in with our mini Spanish contingent? The problem being salary? I think him and Giroud would be a potent partnership as the later has good touch and power to set up the spanard. He would supply 20 plus goals in our team. It won’t happen I guess….

  4. As a good attendant of Arsenal football, this is very very IDEAL than bringing in Heagoin, Rooney, It is because Arsenal lacks penetration when a stong defensive team is thre for Arsenal. Torres have a real quality with Theo to agressivly push forward and bring in goal. Dr Wenger PLEASE PLEASE dont miss Torres, try your best to bring back to trophy.

  5. K..AGREED TORRES IS A WORLD CLASS PLAYER, BUT WHO’S GONNA PAY HIS MAMMOTH WAGES?

BENTEKE IS BETTER THAN TORRES, AGE WISE N WAGE WISE..ALSO BENTEKE WOULD HAPPILY ROTATE WITH GIROUD

  7. I dont have to read everything, cos it won’t work. God 4bid it we dont need ninja that can’t break a egg.

  8. i do not agree torres is a spent force and he will not do much for the arsenal.if he is good enoughful, why did the chelse buy Baa and they are now looking for the FALCAO.You can only buy Torres if you are not ambitious to beat win a trouphy where the chelse are also co Arsenal.
