Morgan Schneiderlin has made no sectret of the fact that he wanted to leave Southampton in the summer, and he has certainly not changed his mind. Arsenal and Tottenham were both expected to be the main suitors for the French international.

Tottenham were reported to have made a derisory £10 million offer for the best-performing defensive midfielder in the League in the summer, but with the Saints already angry that the Spuds had nicked their manager Mauricio Pochettino, the South Coast club dug their heels in and forced Schneiderlin to honour his contract….for now.

Southampton recovered from selling half their players and are currently two points above Spurs in the table, but they are still unlikely to let their star midfielder move to White Hart Lane at any price, despite Schneiderlin still wanting to leave the club. So it is no wonder that Matt Law in the Telegraph is convinced that Morgan will be moving to Arsenal if in fact he goes anywhere in January.

The Gunners have always had a good relationship with the Saints as proved by the arrivals of Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the past, and more recently the £16m deal that took Calum Chambers to North London. If Arsene Wenger really decides that Schneiderlin is the man Arsenal need (and most fans do!) then it should be a quick and painless negotiation with Southampton.

With the added bonus of getting one over on the Spuds as well!
