The Arsenal transfer target Mario Gotze will have to bounce back in shape as fast as humanly possible if he still wants to move away from the Bundesliga. Just like Arsenal’s very own Jack Wilshere, he is recovering from injury, and also like Jack, he is aiming to get five League games under his belt ahead of the selection for the Euro2012 tournament.
Gotze is highly likely to lose his place at the EURO 2012 championship if he won’t immediately prove he retains his form and it would be a shame after helping the Germans qualify with an amazing set of performances for his national squad.
“The probability that he can still play five or six games for us is relatively high,” The Dortmund manager Klopp said ahead of his side’s DFB-Pokal clash with Greuther Furth tonight.
“But it is going to take a bit more time yet – he is not fit enough yet.”
“We are certainly not going to bring him back too soon,” he said.
“We will have to see what recommendations he is given and when he will be able to recommence full training.”
This is basically exactly what Wenger said about Wilshere, but it would be an excellent showcase for their talents if they both recover in time to compete in Poland.
Gotze was wanted intensely by Wenger last summer but every bid for him was snubbed by the Germans from Borussia Dortmund who wanted to use him in the Champions League, where they were drawn against Arsenal.
Meanwhile Dortmund managed to get Marc Reus’ signature assured for next season and they’re completely covered if Goetze is sold after the Euros, but there is no way that Wilshere will leave Arsenal, so perhaps we can see them lining up together next season?
