There were lots of people lining up to heap praise on the newest Arsenal star Danny Welbeck after the 23-year old striker stunned Switzerland in Basel with two well taken goals to cap an excellent all-round performance for England in the Euro 2016 qualifier last night, but no one had higher praise than his new club team mate and international colleague Jack Wilshere.

The 22-year old midfielder has worked with Welbeck before, of course, most recently at the World Cup finals in Brazil. But Wilshere reckons that the new central role he is likely to play for Arsenal is really his best position and that Welbeck could be brilliant there for club and country, as revealed in a Daily Mail report.

Wilshere said, “He really enjoys playing up front. He hasn’t had that opportunity over the past few years and you could tell that tonight he really wanted to prove a point.

“When he gets in front of goal he’s as good as they get.”

No doubt both players and the rest od the Arsenal squad will be looking forward to getting back to training with Arsenal this week and preparing to push on for the rest of the season, with Welbeck leading the line and giving the likes of Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla a fast forward to thread balls through to. Can the new boy really start well and score on his Arsenal debut?
