NO Thanks! Arsenal to snub Real Madrid star’s transfer

Even if the Arsenal transfer rumours that this week suggested that Arsene Wenger had all but secured the transfer of Petr Cech from Chelsea are wide of the mark, I cannot see that the Gunners will be doing with Real Madrid this summer, at least not in the keeper department anyway.

Arsenal have already been linked for their long serving number one Iker Casillas and now a Metro report claims that it could be their Costa Rican international number one Keylor Navas that will be heading to north London in the summer transfer window.

Is Szczesny Back to his Best for Arsenal?

Arsenal have never really been great with goalkeepers ever since the departures of Seaman and Lehmann, trying to solve their problems with the likes of Almunia, Fabianski and more recently Wojciech Szczesny, however it’s the latter name that will be the focus of today, as the Polish international has spoken out about his time with the Gunners.

Szczesny has had a very up and down career with Arsenal, much like goalkeepers usually do because the team is often so dependent on them. As Arsenal go through their tough times so does Szczesny, whilst the more pleasing times of late, have largely been down to not just the addition of Ozil, and the inform players of Giroud and Ramsey, but also because of Szczseny’s much improved game.

Arsenal keeping an eye on Barcelona’s Valdes – But Why?

Arsenal spent a long period of time searching for a goalkeeper this summer, as either a replacement or worthy competition for current club number one Wojciech Szczesny. The club failed to bring in any of the goalkeeping targets mentioned, in Real Madrid’s Iker Casillias, Lazio’s Federico Marchetti and Liverpool (now Napoli goalkeeper) Pepe Reina. Eventually we ended up signing Serie B side Palermo goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano on a season long loan on transfer deadline day, however the reports will not stop about Arsene Wenger’s determination to find a new keeper.

Ozil to herald more players from Madrid to Arsenal?

It’s now exactly a week since transfer window deadline day for the summer of 2013 and although club record signing Mesut Ozil hadn’t been announced at this time last week, the deal was already very clear in the frame and close to completion.

At the same time Arsenal were still being linked with Ozil’s now ex-teammate Angel Di Maria, who was believed to also have an offer on the table from Arsenal. However several pieces of information piece together a picture that suggests Madrid chose to keep Di Maria over Ozil. But after recognising they may have made the wrong decision, there are continued suggestions that Wenger may return for the Argentinean frontman either this January or next summer.
Ex-Gunner Ray Parlour is also confident that the signing of Mesut Ozil could see more Real Madrid players join the German international midfielder at the Emirates.

Arsenal agree €30 million transfer fee for Real Madrid star

According to the latest reports regarding Arsenal’s hunt for Real Madrid players, Angel Di Maria is subject to a 30 million euro bid from the Gunners, which translates to the asking price of around £25 million. Di Maria has been linked alongside his fellow club teammate Karim Benzema as being Arsenal’s top target for now; however as an initial enquiry for Benzema was greeted with rejection, Wenger has since turned complete focus upon Di Maria in the hope that he can sign up at least one superstar this transfer window.

Is Iker Casillas perfect for Arsenal?

Arsenal have been linked to a plethora of goalkeepers recently- from Hamburg’s Rene Adler, Stoke keeper Asmir Begovic and even Barcelona’s Victor Valdes after it was confirmed that he will not be renewing his contract with the Catalans at the end of the season. Others include Brazil’s Julio Cesar and Lazio keeper Fedrico Marchetti.

Recently several newspapers have added yet another name to the fray, reporting that Arsenal are interested in Real Madrid keeper Iker Casillas.
