Arsene Wenger has made a habit of “stating the bleeding obvious” in most of his press conferences ahead of Arsenal games, and with Sunderland coming up tomorrow he has taken the opportunity to point out that the only difference between the 0-0 draw against Bolton and the 7-1 win over Blackburn was simply the amount of times Arsenal took their goalscoring chances!
It seems that the seven goals came from 19 shots on goal by Arsenal, but they also had 16 chances against Bolton without any finished product. This led to Wenger declaring: “It is linked with confidence. As long as you have not scored the first goal you want to score it desperately and therefore you are a little bit less relaxed and it puts more pressure on the shot taker. You are less efficient,”
