Mahrez gives Arsenal transfer green light – So why is Wenger waiting?

2

Arsenal fans already know that Arsene Wenger is a fan of the Leicester City and Algeria footballer Riyad Mahrez, because the Frenchman tried to sign him last summer after a stellar season full of goals and assists helped the Foxes to defy the odds and win the Premier League title.

Just in case any of you Gooners out there had forgotten this, the Frenchman spoke again recently about Mahrez and even said that an Arsenal bid for the player was a possibility. The rumour was that the 26-year old had made an arrangement with his current club that he would be allowed to leave after staying for one more season, so it was hardly surprising to learn of Wenger’s interest.

However, nothing has happened and so Mahrez has felt the need to make his availability even more clear, reports The Sun, and even going further by praising Wenger and all but saying that he would love to come and play for the Gunners.

Mahrez declared, “It is an honour to receive compliments like this from such a big manager in world football, but there is a big difference between words, speculation and an offer.

“There is nothing on the table at the moment. As he went on to say, there is nothing concrete, so I will not dwell on that too much yet”.

So why do you think Wenger has not made his move yet? And is there a danger that by doing so Arsenal could miss out on this proven EPL player?
