It looks like Arsenal could be heading for a bidding war in the January transfer window, as Arsene Wenger is not the only manager of a big European club that is apparently keen on the super talented 21-year old star of the Brazilian champions Cruzeiro.
Lucas Silva plays in the same position as the former Gunner and fellow Brazilian who shares his name, Gilberto Silva. And many Arsenal fans think that the departure of Gilberto in 2008 left a weakness in the Arsenal side that has never been fixed. Maybe young Lucas Silva, dubbed the new Kaka because of his all action style and ability, is the player to finally do it.
His agent Luiz Rocha has confirmed the interest of a number of Premier League clubs as well as La Liga giants Real Madrid, in a Daily Express report, and suggested that his client is ready to make the big move across the pond from Brazil.
Rocha said, “”Representatives call and say they want to take him to Real Madrid or an English team.
“It’s always interesting to see that the big clubs in Europe are interested in the player.
“This means that the job is well done.
“Lucas plays at the Brazilian champions and is one of the best players of Cruzeiro. We are pleased with the interest of big clubs.”
The report claims that his current club are looking for a transfer fee of around £12 million to let their young star go, a price well within the reach of the Gunners. But with Chelsea and Manchester United also said to be on his trail, who will end up with signature of Lucas Silva?
