Football pundit suggest what Rice needs to do to get Arsenal move fast

Former footballer Danny Murphy has suggested that Declan Rice may have to take a risk and upset West Ham in order to secure his desired move to Arsenal.

West Ham have reluctantly accepted that their captain will depart this summer but are holding out for a £100 million offer for the England international. Arsenal’s initial bids have been rejected, but they are expected to make a third offer soon.

Murphy believes that Rice might have to go on strike if he wants to complete the switch from East to North London, as the Gunners are reluctant to meet The Hammers valuation. Speaking on talkSPORT, Murphy said, “And it may get to a point where Declan has got a decision to make – has he got the courage to kick up to get out if he needs to?… you’ve got to look after yourself.”

He added that even though London is Rice’s home and where his family is, joining the Premier League champions Manchester City would be a no-brainer from a football perspective. Murphy explained, “If you had a choice between City and Arsenal, although Arsenal are on a great trajectory, you’d pick City all day long.”

While Manchester City and Bayern Munich have not made firm commitments for Rice, Chelsea has their sights set on Moises Caicedo as their primary midfield target. The situation puts Rice in a position where he might have to take decisive action to secure his desired move, considering the competition and his aspirations.

With the transfer window ongoing, it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds, but the Englishman may need to make tough decisions to push for his dream move to Arsenal or City.

But certainly Arsenal fans will hope he chooses the former.
