Arsenal to deny Spurs top four AND top transfer target

Arsenal fans will be hoping that Burnley can get something out of their Premier League home game today, because the visitors are our north London rivals Tottenham. Even if the spuds do win later though, they will still be seven points behind us and with Man United in good form it looks like another season in the Europa League for our neighbours.

According to a Daily Star report today, a place in the Champions League is not the only thing that the Gunners will be denying them this year, as the paper reports that Arsene Wenger is preparing to hijack one of their summer transfer deals.

Prince Podolski poised for Arsenal exit

When Arsenal announced the transfer of the Germany striker Lukas Podolski a couple of years ago, the fans were understandably excited about it. A lethal striker with a fantastic international strike rate was just the sort of signing that Gooners had been waiting for.

It is fair to say that Podolski’s career at Arsenal has not gone as well as he of the fans would have liked. There have been flashes, like when he first arrived and in his last few games, but Lukas seems to have struggled more than most to adapt to England and the Premier League.

Podolski – Arsenal are one of the top clubs in Europe

It has been Arsenal’s worst-kept secret for the last few months that they had secured the services of Lukas Podolski for next season, but the player himself is just as happy to be joining the mighty Gunners!

Podolski said: “I’m so happy to be joining Arsenal Football Club and to play in the Premier League. Arsenal is one of the top clubs in Europe with a huge history. There are many top quality players at Arsenal and the style of football which the team plays is fantastic. I’m proud to become an Arsenal player and am looking forward to playing my first match at Emirates Stadium and doing my best for all the Arsenal fans.
