It looks like the fat lady is gargling with salt water and warming up her vocal cords, ready to sing. Because Arsenal are on the verge of completing the stunning transfer swoop of the summer and signing the Chile international Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona.
Arsene Wenger told Talksport earlier that the deal was almost completed, with the Barca star apparently flying into London today to put pen to paper, and when you see the amazing deal that is on that paper, you can see why the Gunners have got their man.
Arsenal have a well earned reputation for not paying the crazy wages that the likes of Toure at Man City or Ronney at Man United get, but we are starting to see our club close the gap on these rivals, in terms of salary and transfer fees.
According to the Daily Star, the 25-year old is set to join Mesut Ozil at the top of the Arsenal earners list. The paper claims that this amounts to around £7 million a year, or £135,000 a week, but it could be more, as a report by tsmplug.com claims the German midfielder gets £160,000 a week from Arsenal.
Whatever the figure is, neither Sanchez or Ozil will be struggling with the bills and together they will hopefully help Arsenal to become Premier League champions for the first time since the invincibles team of ten years ago.
