Arsenal move into the pole position in the chase for Olivier Giroud’s signature, as German side Bayern Munich are not looking to sign the player according to the club’s president Uli Hoeness. TalkSport claims that Giroud is monitored by a host of top clubs, of which Arsenal is the most likely destination.
“He was impressive when he played for France in the friendly against Germany. But he is a player who is very similar to Mario Gomez and we are looking for a striker to complement his style.”, Hoeness said.
Arsene Wenger’s search for a top main striker continues, and according to newspapers the shortlist the Frenchman has created holds quite a few names. Giroud, Yilmaz and Leandro Damiao are only a few of the strikers who have been linked with a move to Arsenal since the start of the season, and both Yilmaz and Giroud stated their wish to join the English club id a real offer will come in.
Giroud is not the only French player Wenger’s looking to transfer, as it seems that the most important transfer target at the moment for the Frenchman is Rennes’ midfielder Yann M’Vila who is likely to leave the French Ligue 1 this summer.
